Calqués sur les modèles vintages originaux des fifties, sixties et seventies, les modèles American Vintage II produisent des sonorités incroyablement authentiques, et confèrent des émotions qui furent certainement celles des musiciens à l'époque.

Introduite au début des années 80, la série American Vintage marque le retour au premier plan de Fender, tandis que prend fin le règne de CBS. Fender repense intégralement le concept de la réédition vintage en restaurant les outils originaux, en élaborant de nouveaux micros, ou en retravaillant les couleurs originales.
